This is not my first blog.
I remember my first website at beepworld.com back in Y2K, a one-pager with a black starry background, marquee headlines, gifs, and font size 32. One year later, I had around ten self-made websites thanks to basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. They were mostly manga-themed fansites but also a personal blog and a website with my own artworks. I can’t remember where they were hosted but I remember us manga fans used to exchange website awards and that the top-level domain was *.de.vu.
Fast forward a few years I had my own tumblr (several of those actually — one about personal things and one about Moleskine journal sketching), a DeviantArt profile and my first WordPress website. Three URLs and a few more years later I branched out to Medium and (much later) Substack. I had once built a small Facebook community for my triathlon blog (until my Facebook/Instagram got hacked), I had posted everything on Social Media (including on my favorite social network Strava), I had written a weekly blog about my triathlon journey for two years until the COVID pandemic hit, I had written a few bits and pieces about other things (including AI before the hype), and eventually, I slowly retired from blogging regularly since I write a lot in my current job.
I sometimes wonder what would have happened, had I continued to write one blog instead of shutting down one after the other. Probably not much.
So this is the latest installment in my blogging history. It marks the beginning of an exceptional new chapter in my life and I have no idea where everything will lead me. This is where I’ll try to keep up. This is Simone’s Index.
